Happy New Year! We are all expressing this greeting, hoping this year to be better than 2020. Last year was a year many people felt fearful, depressed, and lacking in optimism for the future, for many different reasons.
Some of us lost loved ones, experienced illness in our families, job losses, or some people even missed special events such as graduation ceremonies, proms, or weddings.
It was a devastating year.
This year, 2020, represents a time for holidays to be celebrated in ways many of us are unaccustomed. During a time when many people still consider themselves “high risk,” not wanting to mix socially, sharing holiday cheer can become a bit of a challenge. So, if we are unable to meet in normal size gatherings of people, as we have in previous years, what are some methods that we can use to safely stay in touch?

Many have been left feeling isolated and somewhat depressed. How can we deal with these feelings?
Recently, we have been bombarded with news of many negative worldwide events; news involving the Covid-19 pandemic, violent demonstrations, quarantines requiring the wearing of masks, and potential school closures. Many parents are feeling pressure to work and still be able to provide care and education for their children.
So, considering the negativity of a world that you cannot control, what are some ways to create positivity in your own life and of those around you?
Jeremiah 29:11 tells us, “I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for good and not for evil, plans for a hope and a future.”
